Carnival of Flowers
Queens Park | Toowoomba | QLD
There was no escaping the Carnival of Flowers as I drove through Toowoomba this recently. The whole town was bloomin’ beautiful. The epicenter was clearly Queens Park for all things floral. As I walked through park’s rows and rows of flowers, I was surprised that despite the volume of people coming and going, how quiet and orderly everything was. Maybe it was a quiet reverence; I know I was in awe of the scale of the magnificent display.
While flowers are at the heart of all the happenings during this 10 day event in September, there are so many other cultural activities not just in Toowoomba itself, but also the surrounding region. Food and wine events showcasing local produce, and regional wine favourites, street art, live music (and a great lineup at that), workshops, tours and various local and regional tours are all part of the goings-on during carnival time.
Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is the ultimate Spring party in September, and everyone’s invited. If you missed it this year, or are wondering whether it’s worth the drive to Toowoomba…. it’s well worth it. There is something for everybody. Mark your calendar for 2018, then pack a hat, your camera, some comfy shoes…maybe even a picnic rug, and get ready to feed all your senses.
Carnival of Flower is on annually in Toowoomba, September 15th to the 24th .
