Like me, you have probably walked past Mappins Nursery on busy Montague Rd in West End many times before….so unassuming from the outside. Until the day when you eventually venture inside, just to have a quick look……and a couple of hours later you’re still looking.
During that time you’ve eventually made it around to the many nooks, arriving at the water feature and hanging plants inside (this is where I lose most of my time). It’s like stepping into a time warp and I swear time stops in here until you step outside again! This is what I imagine a mini green oasis to be like, with its lush foliage dripping from the ceiling surrounding you, and the light trickling of water.
Mappins Nursery is not just about its extensive range of plants (and some unusual ones at that) or ethereal experiences, they also stock a large range of aquariums and fish, chickens (yes chickens!), a large range of pots for the many plants you will come away with, and offer quite an extensive list of creative workshops.
In the heart of West End, not far from the CBD of Brisbane, Mappins Nursery is no doubt somewhere you’ve either walked or driven by. Next time you’re in the area, if you haven’t already had a look inside, I recommend doing so, be prepared to lose a bit of time doing so, however!
